January 28: Aluminium canstock manufacturer Novelis has raised the price it offers for used beverage cans in the UK.
The increase of £100 (US$162) a tonne is the third this month – it was raised by £50 at the beginning of January and £100 a week later – and brings the price paid for bailed cans to £850 ($1,380) a tonne. Loose cans attract a price of £800 a tonne. That’s about 65,000 cans.
