Waste stockpiling hits aluminium can recycling

November 28: Market conditions which have resulted in the stockpiling of materials collected for recycling in the UK, is now affecting deliveries of aluminium drinks cans, says industry organisation Alupro.
 
It is believed that the zero value for recovered steel is causing some local authorities and waste management companies to stop sending co-collected steel and aluminium cans for separation. It is also thought likely that some collectors may be waiting for aluminium prices to recover.
