November 19: InBev yesterday completed its US$52 billion acquisition of Anheuser-Busch, the leading North American brewer, to create the world’s biggest brewer with pro-forma sales of 26.4 billion euros ($36.1 billion).
Belgium-based InBev has changed its name to Anheuser-Busch InBev to reflect the heritage and traditions of Anheuser-Busch, which has become a wholly-owned subsidiary. Anheuser-Busch’s current headquarters in St Louis, Missouri, will become the North American headquarters for the combined company.
Amongst Anheuser-Busch’s non-brewing businesses that include theme parks and recycling and transportation is Metal Container Corporation, the US’s second-largest manufacturer of drinks cans with about 27 percent of the domestic market.
